Of Saltwater, Bikinis, and tan

Sunset

Just came from the beach, but there’s not a hint of tan on my skin. I don’t like getting dark; I don’t think it looks good on me so I splash on those SPF’s every time I get the chance. Funny how I am at the beach, I hate to sun bathe and I don’t like to splash on salt water (its weird but I see the sea as one big pool of canal). The scenery is beautiful though and it’s an excuse to wear my own skin and bikinis…

…I’ve been to Bora few times already and it never cease to amaze me, I guess more on the culture people adapted on the island. This Bora trip was a bit foreign to me, there were a few people on the island and there aren’t many familiar faces by the shore. Every year that I visit there are always parties, booze, and a lot of wasted nights. We barely even remember where and who we were with. This time, it was more of a relaxing trip. I guess we went on the wrong date, too early for the events. I was dead tired before the trip, so when I hit the shore all I wanted to do was sleep inside the villa where we stayed, practically missing half the day. We were planning to visit the Bulabog beach, I think that’s the untamed part of the island but my friends went on a paraw ride and unfortunately I’m an excess number so I dint join the boat ride. I went on my own silly little adventure, frolicking by the shore and watching the people by the beach…went boating on my own and hired a jet ski for an hour.

it would have been fun riding with someone while chasing the sunset but I had a blast never the less. And the thing is, when you’re on your own people pay more attention to you. They were really friendly and got me a lot of photos, even the other riders were talking to me, and they give you free rides too! (Or may be it’s the bikini they want to talk to hmmm)…anyway, next time I’ll try the parasail…I’m sure it’s exhilarating, especially with me cuz I hate heights.

…We always say that what happened in Bora stays in Bora, but its not always true, sometimes we take it along with us. This trip I had with my friends had more drama than the earlier ones.

Gees, I spent most of my time alone cuz there were too much tension with my friends, arguing here and there…but sometimes being alone can also be an adventure, you get to meet new people, even those you aren’t really interested in.

But in any case it’s always refreshing to meet new characters to add to your little book of Bora sun.

The time that we were about to board for manila, intensity 4 earthquake hit Bora, probably cusp of the heat, but silly tired lil old me I didn’t even feel it… back in Manila work still awaits, at least now I can load on carbo again and I don’t have to worry about gaining bulges, hmmm unless I have to go back during holy week…oh well.

Series of Unfortunate Events

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Ever felt like you’re in a twilight zone and everything just doesn’t seem to be in its right place? The other day, we had an event for the magazine and that was the first time I’m ever going on a night out since February. I was looking forward to it cuz I feel like I’m becoming such a bore staying indoors. But that night out turned out into a series of unfortunate events.

While on my way going to Citrus I dropped by to 7 eleven to get a pack of cigs, I bitched out at the cashier cuz she didn’t want to change my 500 bill. The poor girl probably cursed me that night. The minute I walked out of the door I tripped 2 freaking steps down! I was inches away from hitting my head on a car bumper. Good lord, I was dressed for the night! It must have looked pretty hilarious for everyone back at the store and they were probably laughing at me. I got all the strength and pride I had left, stood up and walked to my cab with scratches and a limping leg and went straight to the event. I was still confused and dazed about what happened so stupid little me ended up going down the wrong direction (as always). I had to walk all the way from glorietta 4 to glorietta 2 with a limping leg while gathering my strength not to cry. Well anyway, I made it to the event telling everyone my funny story unaware of another jinx on the way. While I was about to shake someone’s hand I bumped on the wine glass on the side of the table, I tried to catch it but I was too late, when my hand reached the glass its broken already and I felt the tip of the broken glass pierced through my right ring finger. I was bleeding all over the place and cursing myself for having such stupid accidents to think I wasn’t even drunk! Everyone tended to my bleeding finger and after a few drinks and strings of band-aid I was back to laughing at myself when all of a sudden my shoe broke.

Talk about having a bad night! I felt like I was in Final Destination where the crypt keeps following me to my end but I just wont die! Everyone was telling me to go home already or go to the hospital at least to have my wound check, but I was defiant. I was a bit tipsy already and I didn’t want my night to end feeling so disappointed about my first freaking’ night out. So there, after a few strings and tape, my shoe was back on and i transferred to another bar. I was finally having fun thinking my bad luck stopped already when the light of my cigarette came flying out of no where and dropped straight to my arm…my god…that cashier girl was probably so mad at me :) … I went home with a broken shoe, a limping leg, scratches on my foot, a cigarette burn and a freaking bleeding finger. And I could have sworn, that night I looked up and the moon looked so eerie, it was huge and red, and it’s dropped so low you’d feel like you could reach it…

What a night…It was like signs of some sort like something worse would come my way…funny, maybe it was just stupid and clumsy little old me :) but thank God, other than having to go to the hospital for my cut, the next few days went ok…
